# Downgrading Between Paid Plans

> Learn how downgrading from a higher ChatPress plan to a lower paid plan works, including how proration credits and quotas are handled.

## Overview

You can downgrade your ChatPress plan anytime — for example, from **Growth (\$19/mo)**.\
Your downgrade takes effect **immediately**, and your Paddle billing and ChatPress quotas adjust right away.

## How Downgrades Work

| Step                          | What Happens                                                                                                                       |

| 1️⃣ **Immediate plan change** | Your account switches to the new plan instantly.                                                                                   |
| 2️⃣ **Prorated credit**       | Paddle automatically calculates a credit for the unused portion of your higher plan, based on the exact day in your billing cycle. |
| 3️⃣ **Credit usage**          | That credit is stored on your Paddle account and automatically applied to future invoices until it’s fully used.                   |
| 4️⃣ **Plan limits**           | ChatPress immediately enforces the new quotas for pages, messages, and other usage limits.                                         |

## Example

You’re on the **Growth Plan (\$49/mo)** halfway through the month when you decide to downgrade to the **Starter Plan (\$19/mo).**\
\
Paddle applies roughly **\$24.50 in credit** for the unused half of your Growth plan.

* Next month’s **\$19 Starter bill** = \$0 (covered by credit).
* The following bill = **\$14.50** (after applying remaining credit).

Access to Starter-level limits applies immediately.
